Our Story

Newbridge Farm/Fferm Bontneydd, is a mixed farm on the outskirts of Meifod in mid-Wales and is home to the confluence of the rivers Banwy and Vyrnwy. My brother Ieuan and myself are the third generation of Williams' working at  Newbridge Farm under the watchful eye of Mum and Dad (Eirian and John).

Our family have decided to improve the link between the farm and consumer by diversifying into a direct sales food businesses, supplying produce to the local area.

Bontnewydd Farm Foods started following the first lockdown in March 2020. During our spare time, we decided to start planting potatoes in a small area on a difficult-to-reach headland in a field Barley. This proved an inspiration for us to start a fruit and veg delivery round to a local customer base restricted to their own homes due to the strict lockdowns at the time.

Seeing the interest in the fruit and veg boxes, we decided to take the leap into selling milk directly to the public. We started the long journey of setting up food grade processing units to allow us to pasteurise and sell our own milk on the farm, along with setting up a vending machine at the end of the farm drive, which is open 24/7 for all customers. This proved a hit with the local area, especially with the addition of a range of self-serve milkshakes and self-serve vending machine, selling cakes, strawberries and other local and essential products.

We have since diversified further and invested in our milk processing venture and started cheese making! Following months of trial and error we expect to have a cheese fully approved for direct sales within the next two months both in our self-serve vending machine hut as well as here on our online farm shop.

Right now, our emphasis is to provide as much local produce as possible to share with the local people of mid-Wales.
